to be written in a generic format,
not specifically separated for the
various fabrics in your quilt kit.
We will try to give you ample
instruction as to which fabric you
need from your kit, but feel free to

Cutting Instructions for FQS Baby
Loves Poetry ~ Heart Blocks

Piecing Your Blocks
1) Sew
your Fabric C & CC strips to your
Fabric D & DD strips. Press the
Fabric C/D strips toward the Fabric
C fabric and press the Fabric CC/DD
strips to the Fabric DD fabric.
Repeat for a total of four (4)
pieces in one color scheme and four
(4) pieces in the second color
scheme.

2) Sew one of the
long sides of the Fabric A 4 7/8”
triangle to one side of the Fabric B
triangle. Repeat for the other side
of the triangle. Press toward
red lines.
Repeat for a total of four (4)
pieces in one color scheme and four
(4) pieces in the second color
scheme.

3) Sew the strips
from #1 to the pieces in #2. Press
toward
red line.
Sew two of the strips to the piece
with Fabric C or CC sewn to the
piece … sew the other two pieces
with Fabric D or DD to the piece.
Repeat for a total of four (4)
pieces in one color scheme and four
(4) pieces in the second color
scheme.

4) Sew the Fabric A
2 7/8” triangles to both sides of
the Fabric B 4 7/8” x 2 7/8” strips,
as shown. Press toward the
red lines.
Repeat for a total of eight (8)
pieces in first color scheme. Sew
the Fabric AA 2 7/8” triangles to
both sides of the Fabric BB 4 7/8” x
2 7/8” strips, as shown. Press
toward the
red lines.
Repeat for a total of eight (8)
pieces in second color scheme.

5) Sew the
pieces from #4 to each other, to
create a new row for your block.
Press toward the
red lines.
Repeat for a total of eight (8)
pieces per color scheme.

6) Sew the rows
from #5 to the block piece from #2
together. Press toward the long
strips. Repeat for a total of eight
(8) blocks (four (4) blocks of one
color scheme, four (4) blocks of the
other color scheme). You will have
four (4) heart blocks in each color
scheme. Finished block should
measure 8 1/2” square.

7) Sew a strip
of four (4) of your blocks together,
alternating per color scheme.
Repeat. Will end up with two (2)
strips of heart blocks.
