If you purchased the fabric kit for
either the FQS Baby Boy Loves Poetry
or the FQS Baby Girl Loves Poetry
from FatQuarterShop.com, THANK YOU!
This pattern is going
to be written in a generic format,
not specifically separated for the
various fabrics in your quilt kit.
We will try to give you ample
instruction as to which fabric you
need from your kit, but feel free to
email us if you have questions at

Cutting Instructions for FQS Baby
Loves Poetry ~ Asymmetrical Log
Cabin Blocks
All 12 of the blocks
in the center heart are cut and sewn
the same (see below) - the
difference is the placement of the
blocks! All blocks are finished at
8 1/2” square before sewn together.
Always use 1/4” seam allowance!

Piecing Your Blocks
If you are using the
FQS Baby Boy Loves Poetry Fabric Kit
from FatQuarterShop.com, these are
the fabrics and placements the kit
was designed for. Except for the
center piece, if you use one fabric
as a horizontal strip, you’ll use
the same fabric for the vertical
strip that runs perpendicular to
it. Always press seams to the
outside of the blocks:

Before you are
finished with your blocks, there is
one more strip of fabric that you
need to sew to the four (4) blocks
with the focus fabric being the
large strips. Cut four 2 1/8” x 8
1/2” strips from your secondary
color (for the fabrics from the
purchased kits, use the prints that
are the same as the last row of
secondary fabrics in your blocks -
for both gender quilts). Sew the
strip to the top of your four (4)
blocks, a shown:

Now it’s time to sew
your quilt blocks together!

Congratulations! You have
completed the FQS Baby Loves Poetry
Quilt!
