MKs Acorns Dressed to the Nines
2006 Mystery Quilt from BOMQuilts.com & Mary Kate's Country Quilts 'n Things

An original design of 'dressy' blocks made with "Acorn Hollow" fabrics from Benartex.  This Mystery Quilt will be delivered in 6 clues, one per month from March - August, 2006.

Marking Your Fabrics for Clue 2

Draw a diagonal line with a washable fabric marker or pencil on the wrong side of each of the 64 Fabric F squares, from one corner to the opposite corner.

 

Piecing Your Fabrics for Clue 2 

1)  With right sides together, sew the Fabric F squares to the right end of HALF of your Fabric E strips (both sizes) on the line you drew from corner to corner of the Fabric F square.  Cut your squares 1/4” from the seam you sewed and discard the corner fabric, as shown.  Press toward the Fabric E strip - should have 32 finished strips (16 per size):

2)  With right sides together, sew the Fabric F squares to the left end of your remaining Fabric E strips (both sizes) on the line you drew from corner to corner of the Fabric F square.  Cut your squares 1/4” from the seam you sewed and discard the corner fabric, as shown.  Press toward the Fabric F corners - should have 32 finished strips (16 per size): 

3)  Sew the strips together as shown, pressing seam as you choose:

 

4)  Now you may sew your finished border strips to your eight (8) nine-patch blocks, as shown in steps 1 - 2 below.  Press toward the fabric strips (out) - should have eight (8) finished blocks:
